About Robin
I hold a degree in Communication: Journalism from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, where I also studied Political Science and Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies. Through the Arrupe Scholars program, I focused on social justice issues including workers' rights, homelessness, criminal justice, and racial justice. My activism earned me the Campion Award, fellowships with the Ohio Student Association and the Newman Civic Fellows program, and resulted in legal and legislative victories.
As a student, I gained hands-on experience through internships at WKYC-TV (NBC Cleveland), directing news at WJCU-FM, and contributing to the JCU newspaper and literary magazine. In 2016, I completed a yearlong political journalism internship at The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com, where I covered the presidential election and Republican National Convention.

Impactful Results
After graduation, I became a staff reporter at The Plain Dealer and Cleveland.com, covering breaking news, politics, public policy, and criminal justice. I was the beat reporter for the Akron area for 2 years, then led "Stimulus Watch," a government watchdog project tracking federal COVID-19 relief spending in Northeast Ohio. I also developed content strategies for newsletters, social media, and podcasts.
My work has appeared in the Associated Press, MSN, Government Technology, and Yahoo News. I’ve even been cited in Wikipedia, NPR, The Washington Post, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Merriam-Webster.

Following 5 years at The Plain Dealer, I pivoted to public relations and communications consulting. Working with global NGOs and nonprofits including PETA and Mercy For Animals, as well as companies and individual clients, I’ve secured exclusive coverage in top outlets such as The New York Times, BBC, The Guardian, Bloomberg, Forbes, and NBC News.
I’m also a public speaking coach and offer spokesperson trainings, interview preparation, and personalized coaching for organizations and individuals.
As a freelance journalist, I continue to produce thought-provoking reporting on politics, social justice, arts and culture, technology, philanthropy, criminal justice reform, environmental issues, and business news.
